Twelve years of blockade have taken their toll on Palestinians living in Gaza, who became totally ‘locked in’, denied free access to the remainder of the occupied Palestinian territory and the outside world.
Poverty rates has been exacerbated reaching up to 53%, and unemployment rates exceeded 44%. UNOCHA estimates that over 80% of Gazans are dependent on assistance. Electricity cuts of up to 20 hours a day continue to undermine service provision in Gaza, including health, education, water and wastewater facilities, etc.
The recent emergency situation of the Gaza strip is tragic, where many of the killed and injured people are from the children, which is considered as a violation to the human rights and UN convention of children rights. These events affect the children and surrounding people emotions and psychological status.
The project involves conducting emergency psychosocial support intervention through family counselling sessions as well as children recreation activities.
The objective of this project is to evaluate the survivor’s stress related psychologies difficulties and to acquaint survivors with skills to help them cope with their stressors reactions including fear, guilt, sense of self-inadequacy, general distress and depression
